Last month, the Russell County Fiscal Court voted to approve purchasing voting machines and equipment needed to bring a polling place back to Jabez, beginning with next month’s general election.
At last night’s meeting of the fiscal court, the magistrates voted to approve a resolution that will hopefully provide grant funds to help cover the cost of that voting equipment, namely voting machines and portable restroom facilities.
Jabez has not had a polling location since 2019 and since then, residents voting in-person have had to travel around 20 miles or more to the nearest polling location.
