A Somerset woman was indicted after she reportedly neglected her mother following a fall, which ultimately led to her death.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Abra McDonald was indicted on a charge of knowingly abusing or neglecting an adult.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the home of 67-year-old Karen McDonald in June. Upon investigation, they learned that Karen had fallen in the floor weeks prior to the call and had been in the same spot since the fall.
The sheriff’s office said Abra McDonald lived with Karen and further investigation revealed that Abra had made no attempt to assist her mother or call for help.
The day after Karen McDonald was taken to the hospital, she passed away from physical trauma she sustained.
Abra McDonald faces 5 to 10 years in prison on the charges.
