The Russell County Detention Center Litter Patrol found a rifle along Highway 619 while picking up litter yesterday.
Russell County Jailer Bobby Dunbar said the gun was lot loaded and gave WJRS News a breakdown of what happened.
Dunbar said this is the third time a weapon has been found by detention center crews picking up litter in the past two years.
