At this week’s special-called meeting of the Russell County Fiscal Court, the court voted to table the approval of a memorandum of understanding regarding the Jamestown Elementary School Resource Officer position.
The magistrates agreed to hold off on approving the memorandum– and the funding– until waiting to see if the board of education would pick up the cost.
The agreement for the SRO at Jamestown Elementary was initially a four-party agreement between the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown City Council, Russell County Fiscal Court, and Russell County Board of Education, but due to lack of grant funds, the sheriff’s office has said it planned to remove itself from the agreement.
The fiscal court meets again for its regular monthly meeting on Monday.
