Columbia man arrested for impersonating a peace officer

A Columbia man was arrested for impersonating a peace officer and fleeing or evading police, among other charges, Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, 24-year-old Chance Burton of Columbia was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer, fleeing or evading police second degree, giving an officer false identifying information, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct first degree.

Burton was arrested by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center at around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.
