A popular boat dock on nearby Dale Hollow Lake caught fire late Thursday afternoon and received major damage.
According to reports provided to WJRS Local News, the fire began at Sunset Dock when a houseboat struck a gas pump on the dock, igniting an explosion and fireThe fire caused extensive damage to the dock.
One dock employee was overcome with smoke inhalation and another employee did receive burns. Officials are unsure as to the final amount of damage but said it was a miracle no one was killed or more seriously injured. The primary owner of Sunset Dock is Tony Sloan of Albany, who also owns the Marina at Rowena in Russell County.
