The Russell County Laker baseball team came from behind late in the game to defeat district foe Clinton County 10-3 on Thursday night at Laker Field.
Adam Walters picked up the win in relief, striking out eight batters. Carter Stapp finished two triples and five RBI on the night. Mayes Gosser had three hits, scored two runs and had an RBI and Walters, Walker Stephens, and Owen Loy also had two hits each in the game.
The win gives the Lakers the one seed in the upcoming 16th district tournament and moved them to 19-8 overall on the season.
In Lady Laker softball action, Russell County dropped two games to Clinton County in Albany Thursday night, 3-0 and 9-4. Rylen McGowan hit a 2-run homerun and Emma Popplewell hit a solo homerun for the Lady Lakers. Russell County is now 7-15 overall on the season.
