State police make arrest in fatal shooting case

Kentucky State Police troopers have made an arrest involving a fatal shooting that took place near Jamestown Wednesday night.

According to jail records, 18-year-old Alexander Maynard also known as Lee Maynard, was arrested by Kentucky State Police at around 4:35 p.m. Thursday.

Maynard was reportedly located by Trooper Jake Smith walking along the side of the road near the Dunnville area when he was taken into custody by law enforcement.

Maynard is accused of fatally shooting his brother, 22-year-old Charles Maynard at a residence on Fox Lane near Jamestown at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and was charged with murder by Kentucky State Police.

Alexander Maynard fled from the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival at the residence and evaded law enforcement for nearly 24 hours.

Detective Zach Scott is continuing the investigation with assistance from other KSP Troopers and Detectives.
