Russell County Public Library purchases adjacent property

Russell County Public Library Director Lindsey Westerfield told WJRS News the library has recently purchased nearly 5 acres of property adjacent to the library.

The library used funds from the sale of the old library building in Jamestown to purchase this adjacent property.

“There are no financial impacts to Russell County taxpayers,” Westerfield told WJRS News.

The library plans to take a long-term, phased approach to any development on the property, and any future development will be several years in the making and include significant community input.

The library invites community members to share their feedback through this online form.

Westerfield spoke more to WJRS about the purchase.
