Maynard pleads ‘not guilty’ in district court Monday

The suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred last week was in Russell District Court for the first time Monday. Eighteen-year-old Lee Maynard appeared in person and entered a “not guilty” plea in front of District Judge Scarlett Latham.

Maynard, who is being represented by the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, is charged with murder in the shooting death of his brother, 22-year-old Charles Maynard, at a residence on Fox Lane in Jamestown last Wednesday evening.

Maynard was arrested by state police last Thursday, one day after the shooting, after they located him walking along the roadside in Dunnville in neighboring Casey County.

Maynard’s bond was not brought up during the hearing and remains at $1 million cash. A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for Monday, April 24th at 1 p.m. in Russell District Court.
