The Russell County Laker Basketball program has its new head coach.
Brandon Cooper, the head coach at Garrard County High School, was announced as Russell County’s new basketball coach Monday afternoon.
Cooper is a Garrard County alumnus, who coached the Lions the past three seasons, compiling a total record of 36-51 over the past three seasons.
Cooper looks to take over a Laker program that has struggled in recent seasons. The Lakers haven’t reached the 4th Region tournament since 2018 and coming off a season in which they finished 10-21.
