Russell County’s latest unemployment rate comes in at 5.3 percent, according to newly released data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Locally, the unemployment rate increased 0.3 percent from December to January.
McCreary County had the highest unemployment rate in the region at 5.9 percent, Clinton County and Wayne County were each at 5.4 percent, Adair at 5.3 percent, Pulaski County at 4.9 percent, Casey at 3.9 percent, Taylor and Green counties each at 3.7 percent, and Cumberland County at 3.6 percent.
The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland district was 4.7 percent.
Woodford County recorded the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.9 percent while Magoffin County, at 11.6 percent, had the state’s highest unemployment rate.
