Jace Scaggs and Evan Hutchison combined to pitch a no-hitter as the Russell County Middle School Lakers picked up a 12-0 win over Casey County last night.
Scaggs got the start, pitching 1 2/3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 2.
Hutchison entered in relief, pitching 1 1/3 innings while striking out 4 and walking 2.
The Lakers took care of business at the plate as well, with Scaggs, Hutchison, and Riley Taylor each finishing with 2 hits and Hutchison driving in six runs.
The B team also got a win over Casey County by a score of 9-0.
The Lakers didn’t allow a hit in that game either with Luke Walters, Talan Huckaby, Holden Hadley and Alex Ramirez each pitching one inning.
Walters, Ramirez, and Huckaby each struck out three and Hadley Struck out two for a combined 11 strikeouts.
At the plate, Ramirez led the team with a pair of hits.
The middle school Lakers are set to play Southern Middle School on Saturday at 10 a.m.
