One arrest made in Somerset auto theft case

One arrest has been made in the case of six new Dodge Challenger Hellcats that were stolen from a Somerset car dealership this week.

Caveze Jones, age 19 of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, fleeing or evading police first degree, wanton endangerment first degree, reckless driving, resisting arrest, and other charges.

According to Kentucky State Police, an officer spotted four of the vehicles traveling west on the Cumberland Parkway after the thefts at speeds of around 180 miles per hour.

Troopers were eventually able to deploy spike strips and disable one of the vehicles, according to the arrest citation. Jones was arrested after he was found near the vehicle hiding in a tree line.

Jones was arrested by Kentucky State Police and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. Law enforcement is still looking for others involved in the thefts.
