Laker Baseball wins big over Monroe County in district clash

The Laker Baseball team came away with a big 17-0 win in its home opener last night, defeating 16th district foe Monroe County.

The Lakers jumped out early, scoring 12 runs in the opening frame to cruise to a victory in 3 innings.

Austin Bartrug got the win on the mound for the Lakers, pitching a 3 inning no-hitter, walking 3 and striking out 6.

At the plate, Adam Walters finished with a pair of hits and drove in a team-high 4 runs.

Trace Stringer also added a pair of hits and 2 RBI.

Owen Loy and Jack Shearer each drove in a pair of runs as well.

The Lakers will take on the Falcons again today, this time in Tompkinsville. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
