Entire Lake Cumberland District back to lowest level of COVID spread

The entire 10-county Lake Cumberland District is now in the “green,” or low level of COVID-19 spread this week, according to new data released this week by the Kentucky Department of Public Health.

Their latest COVID-19 map also shows just nine counties in the “yellow” signifying a medium level of virus spread. The closest “yellow” county to Russell County is Laurel County to the east of neighboring Pulaski County.

Menifee County is the lone “red” county in Kentucky this week, indicating a high level of community spread of the COVID-19 virus.

According to the department of public health, 9,254 Russell Countians are now considered “vaccinated,” good for 51.6 percent of the county’s population.
