County sees COVID cases increase this week

There were 19 new COVID-19 cases in Russell County this week, a double-digit increase from last week’s total of nine, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, Wayne County had the most with 25 cases, Pulaski County reported 24 cases, Taylor County had 18 cases, Clinton County had 15 cases, Green County reported 11 cases, McCreary County had 10 cases, while Cumberland, Adair, and Casey County reported five cases each.

Kentucky’s current incidence rate, per 100,000 population, is 6.91 percent. Statewide, there were 2,222 new cases and 49 newly reported deaths this week.
