Beshear signs emergency bill to stop sale of “gas station heroin”

Governor Andy Beshear signed a bill yesterday that would classify any product containing tianeptine, an unregulated drug known as “gas station heroin” that produces opioid-like effects, as a Schedule I controlled substance, which would prevent it from being sold in convenience stores and gas stations.

It has been linked to serious harm, overdoses and death according to the FDA.

Michigan, Minnesota and Alabama have taken similar measures against the substance.
