Albany man arrested, charged with sending obscene matter to juvenile

An Albany man has been arrested for reportedly sending obscene matter with a cell phone to a female juvenile in neighboring Wayne County, according to law enforcement.

James E. Brewington III, age 28, was arrested last Friday night following an investigation that prompted an arrest warrant.

Clinton and Wayne County law enforcement officers worked together and Brewington was taken into custody earlier last Friday in Clinton County. Brewington was then transported to Wayne County, where he was arrested.

Brewington was charged with the unlawful use of electronic means originating or received within the Commonwealth to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities.

Additional charges may be forthcoming.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
