The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 11 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, a decrease from last week’s total of 28. The numbers were delayed this week due to the Christmas holiday.
Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, neighboring Wayne County had the most with 31 cases, Pulaski County had 27, Green County recorded 21 cases, Adair County reported 18 cases, Casey County and Taylor County each with 14 cases, McCreary County had 10 cases, Clinton County reported nine cases, and Cumberland County with just one case.
The state also reported 11 individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19 with four of those being treated in intensive care units. Two are listed as being on a ventilator.
The statewide positivity rate has now increased to 12.23 percent.
