Lakers, Lady Lakers win opening games in Gatlinburg

The Russell County Lakers and Lady Lakers each picked up wins in their first matchups at the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic in Gatlinburg.

The Lady Lakers picked up their first win of the season, defeating 4th Region opponent Warren Central by a score of 39-27.

Jaterria Coffey led the scoring for the Lady Lakers with 12 points, followed by Rachel Bolin with 8 points and Aniyah Coffey and Addy Abrell with 7 each.

The Lakers picked up win number five on the season, defeating Oliver Springs (TN) by a score of 81-49.

The Lady Lakers will play tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT in the next round.

The Lakers will play tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT.
