Beshear issues executive orders regarding medical marijuana

Governor Andy Beshear issued two executive orders in regard to medical marijuana on Tuesday.

One order will allow Kentuckians to possess up to eight ounces of marijuana if purchased legally in a state that allows it if the person has certification from a licensed health care provider to show they suffer from at least one of 21 specified medical conditions.

These conditions include cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, PTSD, terminal illness, and chronic pain, among others.

The other order sets regulations for delta-8, a chemical found in the cannabis plant that contains THC at lower levels than marijuana.

The executive orders are set to take effect at the beginning of 2023.
