Hatchery stocks trout in Russell, Cumberland counties Tuesday

Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery staff with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel stocked 9-inch Rainbow trout in the Cumberland River in both Russell and Cumberland counties on Tuesday.

A total of 2,000 rainbow trout were stocked below Wolf Creek Dam in the Cumberland Tailwater, 3,000 trout were stocked at Helm’s Landing and another 3,000 were stocked at Winfrey’s Ferry.

In neighboring Cumberland County, a total of 5,000 trout were stocked between Bakerton, Burkesville, Highway 61 and Cloyd’s Landing.

Hatchery Creek is stocked every other day, according to hatchery officials. The Cumberland River is stocked at least one day a month, and possibly more depending on the truck availability.
