Columbia woman killed in Adair Co. crash

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Columbia killed an Adair County woman, according to police.

The Columbia Police Department responded to the collision at the intersection of Burkesville Street and Veterans Memorial Bypass Wednesday.

According to witnesses, the crash occurred when Sandra Dotson, 58, of Columbia, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger southbound on Burkesville Street and continued through the intersection at a red traffic light and collided with a 2015 Chevy Silverado, driven by Jordan York, 31, of Greensburg, who was traveling westbound on the bypass.

Dotson was airlifted from the scene and was later pronounced dead at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. A fifteen year old male passenger was taken by Adair EMS to TJ Samson Hospital Columbia where he was treated and released.

Police say Dotson may have suffered a medical event while driving prior to the collision.

CPD Officer Adam Cravens is investigating the collision. He was assisted on scene by Officer Holly Necessary, Adair Sheriff Josh Brockman and Deputy Brandon Hitch. Adair EMS, Kentucky State Police, and the Columbia Fire Department also responded to the scene.
