Man airlifted from dump truck collision on Hwy 80 this week

A Taylor County man was airlifted following an auto accident on Highway 80 earlier this week.

According to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, at around 8 a.m. Monday, Adair County 911 received a call about an overturned dump truck located 9 miles east of Columbia on Highway 80.

Deputy Gary Roy with the Adair County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene along with Adair County EMS and the Columbia Adair Fire Department.

Preliminary investigation shows that Christopher Anderson, age 50, of Taylor County, was traveling west on KY 80 in a 1992 international dump truck when the truck dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway.

In an attempt to recover the truck, Anderson over-corrected and traveled back onto highway and left the highway in the eastbound lane, overturning.

Anderson was treated on scene by Adair County EMS and taken to TJ Health Columbia. He was later airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee.

Deputy Gary Roy is continuing the investigation.
