Russell County and the rest of the Lake Cumberland area remains under a heat advisory until late Wednesday evening as hot temperatures and high humidity envelop the region, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
Weather officials say heat index values between 105 and 109 are possible today and Wednesday afternoons with brief heat index values of 110 possible this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors during this time.
