The National Weather Service says a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. this evening for Russell and surrounding counties as dangerous heat index values between 105 and 109 are expected again today during the afternoon hours.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors who could be susceptible to heat illnesses. Also, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
