Catch a Rainbow fishing derby is this weekend

The Catch a Rainbow Fishing Derby is coming up on Saturday, June 4.

The annual event returns this year after being cancelled the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The derby starts at 9 a.m. with scheduled age-appropriate time slots throughout the day.  Remember, kids fishing in the Derby must register at least 30 minutes before their age level slot.

Here’s the schedule for the day.

 9:00 – 10:00          Ages 5-6

10:15 – 11:15           Ages 7-8

  11:30 – 12:30          Ages 9-10

   12:45 – 1:45            Ages 11-12

   2:00 – 3:00             Ages 13-15

The event is free for children up to age 15. Typically, the fishing derby brings between 3,000 and 4,000 people to the fish hatchery.

This will be the 34th Fishing Derby hosted at the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.
