Paving set to begin on Cumberland Parkway project

The pavement rehabilitation and improvement project continues on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway, with the project contractor notifying District 8 officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Somerset that paving operations are scheduled to begin on Monday, weather permitting.

The ongoing project consists of shoulder repairs, grade, drain and ditching improvements along with milling and paving operations.

Work has required lane closures – both east and westbound – between Exit 62 (Russell Springs) and mile point 72 (at the Pulaski County line).

Drivers are reminded to pay close attention to highway signs and be prepared for traffic shifts through the duration of the project.

The speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph through the work zone and double fines are in effect.

All work is expected to be complete by August 21st.
