A new 911 Center will soon be built in Russell Springs. Mayor Eddie Thomas gave an update on the center’s status to WJRS NEWS following last week’s meeting of the city council…
Back in February, the fiscal court approved the use of ARPA funds to build the new 911 center on Brian Walters Drive with the city of Russell Springs writing a letter to the court saying they would donate an acre of land and do water and sewer hookups for the building.
The council heard the second reading of an ordinance to name a road in the city Rick Neff Road and unanimously gave passage to it. Another ordinance that reduces the mayor’s pay by several hundred dollars a month was also given its second reading and passage by the council.
Local veterans Stan Milby, Ron Burton, James Clark, and Tom Burgess were honored by the council for their service to the country and for recently being awarded the Agent Orange Medal by the federal government.
Also during the meeting, Mayor Thomas announced that the Russell Springs Fire Department would be giving quarterly reports to city leaders going forward.
