Wayne County man arrested on federal drug charges

A Wayne County man was indicted in U.S. District Court on federal drug charges, including conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture.
According to Z93 in Monticello, multiple law enforcement agencies arrested Cody Upchurch at his residence on Tuesday. He is charged with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture, possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Law enforcement said Upchurch was in possession of 31.5 grams of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
Upchurch was under investigation by the DEA, Lake Cumberland Drug Task Force, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Attorney’s Office prior to the arrest, as evidence was presented in federal court back on Feb. 24 linking Upchurch to alleged drug trafficking.
The investigation is continuing by all involved agencies with more indictments and arrests expected. Upchurch is currently lodged in a federal detention center in London.
