Couple Sentenced on Charges Stemming from Alleged Child Abuse

A Russell Springs couple was sentenced Monday in Russell Circuit Court on charges stemming from alleged child abuse that occurred in 2019, according to court records.

Under a guilty plea this week, Curtis Hendricks’ assault charges were amended to first degree wanton endangerment and his first degree criminal abuse charges were amended to second degree. In a separate indictment, a theft by unlawful taking charge and criminal mischief charge were both lessened under the plea. Curtis Hendricks was sentenced to a total of 12 months to serve on that count and an additional four years to serve on the criminal abuse charges, probated and supervised, for four years. A restitution hearing will be held in the case on February 8th.

Trina Hendricks faced one count of criminal abuse first degree involving a minor child but that was amended to disorderly conduct, second degree, under the guilty plea. She was sentenced to 90 days to serve, diverted until she completes parenting classes of the Russell Family Court.

Curtis and Trina Hendricks were initially indicted in October 2020.
