With the 2021-22 whitetail deer season now over, total harvest results from this past season have been released by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife.
In Russell County, hunters took a total of 367 deer with 313 of those being male while 54 were female. Of that number, 265 were taken with a modern firearm, 42 were taken with archery, 41 with a crossbow and 19 by muzzleloader. In 2020-21, 458 deer were harvested in Russell County.
The neighboring counties of Pulaski saw 1,840 deer harvested, Adair 1,334, Casey County 957, Wayne 939, Cumberland 798 and Clinton with 305.
