County employees to receive bonus with ARPA funds

Around 100 county employees will receive a one-time bonus thanks to federal funds allocated to the county through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Under the plan, which was first brought up by Magistrate Mickey Garner and approved unanimously by the fiscal court at Monday night’s meeting, full-time county employees would receive a one-time bonus of $5,000 while part-time employees would receive a bonus of $2,500.

In order to be eligible to receive the bonus, the employee must have been employed between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2021 and still be employed by the county.

Judge Executive Gary Robertson said around 100 county employees would be eligible for the bonus. Around 70-75 percent of those employees are full-time while the remainder are part-time.

A document outlining the plan will be drawn up by the county attorney’s office and presented to the court for approval next month.
