Unemployment drops nearly 1 percent in Russell County

Unemployment dropped nearly one percent in Russell County in October compared to last year.

A new report from the Kentucky Center for Statistics shows unemployment dropped 0.9 percent in Russell County, from 5.3 percent in Oct. 2020 to 4.4 percent in Oct. 2021.

Unemployment in Russell County is still tied for the highest in the Lake Cumberland District, along with McCreary County, but the drop in unemployment is one of the highest in the district.

Unemployment rates rose in seven counties and fell in 113 counties in October. The unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted because of small sample sizes.
