Lady Lakers Fall to Meade County in Bankers Hardwood Classic; Tuesday’s game canceled

The Russell County Lady Lakers fell to 4-7 on the season as they dropped their first game in the Banker’s Hardwood Classic on Monday to the Meade County Lady Waves.

The Lady Lakers fell by a score of 67-33. The Lady Lakers led after the first quarter by a score of 12-10, but the Lady Wave dominated the second quarter by a score of 23-5 and pulled away in the second half.

Sophie Shearer led the Lady Lakers with a team-high 11 points and 8 rebounds. Aniyah Coffey added 6 points for the Lady Lakers, while Maleah Preston and Hannah Yates each finished with 5 points. Addison Hart and Karley Luttrell each added 3 points.

Russell County was scheduled to take on Bishop Brossart High School Tuesday evening but that game was canceled.
