Local youth will have the upcoming weekend, January 1st and 2nd, to participate in the Free Youth Deer Hunt Weekend.
According to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, hunters are limited to one deer with visible antlers, excluding button bucks, per license year.
The one antlered deer can be taken under the statewide deer permit or the Deer Management Permit. Antlerless deer can be taken during the youth season as well as during the ongoing archery season.
Youth can also participate at in the free youth small game hunting/trapping week from January 1st through the 7th.
