Family of former Jamestown Fire Chief presents memorabilia to department

The family of former Jamestown Fire Chief Paul Walkup presented the fire department with some memorabilia at last week’s Jamestown City Council meeting, including a painting and some equipment.

Walkup served as Fire Chief in the city from 1952-1969. His daughter, Annette, was at the meeting to present the items to Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers.

“This was something that was very special to my dad,” Annette said. “It hung in his office for many years at the health department because the fire department took such a big place in his heart. I thought the best thing to do was present it to the fire department in his memory.”

“We thank the Walkup family for Paul’s service to the Jamestown Fire Department,” Shearer said. “He was an extraordinary man that gave his all for Jamestown and we’re grateful for him and his family.”
