2019 Achievement Test Scores Were Lowest in Region

Russell County High School may soon have a new principal.   The Site Based Decision Making Council at the school is expected to interview candidates today for the job.

Russell County High School is the worst performing high school academically in the region, according to 2019 achievement test scores from the Kentucky Department of Education.   No testing was performed in 2020 due to Covid.

Russell County High School ranked 130th statewide academically in 2019, with an overall score of 63.9.    Casey County High School led the area with a 76.7 overall score, ranking as the 21st top high school in the state.   All three high schools in Pulaski county scored above 70, while neighboring Adair County scored 70.3.    Clinton County High School’s achievement score was 66.4.   Russell County High School was the only school in the region to have an achievement score below 65.

The new principal selected will succeed Darren Gossage who is retiring effective August
