Traffic on dam expected to reopen to two lanes in the fall

Traffic on Wolf Creek Dam could reopen to two lanes in the fall, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

District 8 Public Information Officer Amber Hale told WJRS News the rock mitigation project that is currently taking place is scheduled to be complete this fall.

Once it is completed KYTC will be removing the current one lane traffic pattern.

The project has been ongoing since last summer, with the goal of preventing rock slides in the future.

The project is federally funded and costs in the neighborhood of $2.6 million.

As of now, an exact date is not yet known, but will be made available as completion of the project gets closer.
