Sheriff’s Office makes drug trafficking arrest

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston said his office continues to combat drug trafficking in the community. That continued with the arrest of a Casey County woman Thursday afternoon on multiple drug trafficking charges.

53-year-old Patrica A. Reed, formerly of Russell Springs, was arrested following a traffic stop that occurred at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

Reed was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in marijuana less than 8 oz., possession of a controlled substance third degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle under the influence second offense, and failure to wear a seat belt.

Deputy Corey Meyer initiated the traffic stop and Deputy Ron Golden with K-9 Yogi responded to the scene where the K-9 alerted on the vehicle. Polston said nearly 41 grams of methamphetamine and more than $2,600, along with marijuana, were located in the vehicle.

Deputy Meyer and Deputy Golden were assisted on scene by members of the Russell Springs Police Department and Kentucky State Police.

Polston reminds Russell County citizens that suspected illegal drug activity can be called in anonymously to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office Drug Tipline at 270-343-8116.
