Russell County surpasses 1,800 total COVID-19 cases

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, more than 1,800 Russell County residents have officially contracted the virus.

That number could be even higher, due to the possibility of people contracting the virus and not being tested.

The one confirmed case on Friday moved Russell County’s total to 1,801 cases. That is more than the population of Jamestown, which was estimated at 1,791 in 2019.

Russell County has had the fifth-most cases of the 10 counties in the Lake Cumberland District. Pulaski, Taylor, Wayne, and McCreary counties have recorded more cases.
