It was a busy weekend for the local high school basketball teams, and the week ahead is full also.
On Friday night, the Lady Lakers picked up their fifth win in a row, defeating Casey County at Laker gym 58 to 46. Juliah Bault with 18 points, Star Marcum with 15 led Russell County. The Lady Lakers will be at home Tuesday night to take on Monroe County at 6 o’clock in a girl-boy doubleheader. On Thursday night, they will travel to Bowling Green to take on Greenwood High School, and then on Friday will travel to Taylor County.
The Laker boys split a couple of games over the weekend losing at McCreary Central on Friday night, 65 to 47, before coming home on Saturday and getting a district win over Cumberland County, 57 to 36. The Laker boys will be at home Tuesday night against Monroe County for a 7:30 game. On Friday night, they will travel to Wayne County and then on Saturday will play Jackson County at South Laurel High School in London.
