Joey Hoover named interim chief of Monticello Police Department

Former Jamestown Police Chief Joey Hoover is now leading another police agency, this time as interim chief of the Monticello Police Department.

Hoover, who served for 16 years with the Jamestown Police Department, was sworn into the position Monday by Monticello Mayor Tracie Sexton.

Hoover previously served as assistant chief after joining the Monticello Police Department in 2019.

Final approval of the hiring is expected to be given when the Monticello City Council meets next week.
