Family Dollar expected to locate in Jamestown; other new businesses locating in the city

A Family Dollar store is expected to locate in Jamestown near the intersection of Esto Road and Highway 127.

Jamestown Mayor Nick Shearer told the city council Thursday night that the city has been in discussions with the corporation about locating in Jamestown and as of now, the plan is for Family Dollar to build a store on that lot.

“Everything that has been given to me is that it’s going to be a Family Dollar,” Shearer said.

Shearer said a planned completion date is unknown, but said they typically are able to build their stores pretty quickly, so he estimated “a few months.”

“We’re welcoming them into the area and wish them nothing but success,” Shearer said.

Shearer also noted some other businesses that have located/are planning to locate in the city. Those included:

-PremierTox

-ArtWorks cleared the lot at the corner of Shelby Street and Main Street. The nonprofit is planning to build a facility that will house an art gallery and office space. Shearer also said the plan is to have a garden at the new location that will be named in memory of the late Debbie Russell.

-The building that houses Jan’s Variety is now owned by Regena Hinton
