The Russell County Rescue Squad was busy during the winter storm that hit the county last week, responding to a total of 48 calls.
In total, the Rescue Squad drove nearly 1,700 miles and totaled 486 man hours on calls. This does not include members man hours on standby at the rescue squad station and at home for call in as needed.
The all-volunteer group helped transport people to necessary medical appointments, picked up medications and groceries, and transported healthcare workers who were unable to travel hazardous roads.
