The Russell County Public Library announces the launch of The Achieve Network – a hotspot and laptop lending program for individuals seeking to achieve employment, education, and personal goals in the comfort and convenience of their own home.
RCPL has partnered with the Cumberlands Workforce Development Board, Russell County Senior Center, and English Language Learner Program at Russell County Schools to extend The Achieve Network’s reach in the community. The Achieve Network is open to members of the public who are referred by any of these three community partners or by scheduling a Book a Librarian appointment at RCPL.
“RCPL is excited to debut our first laptop lending program,” said Library staff member and Project Director Jesse Murrell. “The kits include not only a wireless hotspot and laptop, but are also equipped with a wireless headset, Microsoft Office, and the FluentU language learning program. This is an incredible opportunity and first step toward lending these types of technology and equipment that will benefit our community.”
The Achieve Network is made possible by a Library Services and Technology Act grant through the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives. The grant provided RCPL with five laptops, funding for necessary software, and support for up to two years of Wi-Fi hotspot service through Bluegrass Cellular/Verizon.
