The Russell County Lady Lakers got a victory at Laker gym, defeating Pulaski County, 52 to 40. Seniors Star Marcum and Juliah Bault led Russell County with 19 and 17 points, respectively. Hannah Yates chipped in with 11 points.
The Lady Lakers game scheduled for Thursday night at Bowling Green has been cancelled. Coach Brett Blankenship’s team will be at home on Friday night against Casey County, a game that can be heard on Laker Country 1049 WJRS, and will also be at home on Saturday night against Cumberland County.
In a game heard on Laker Country 1049 WJRS, the Laker boys had a tough time of it on the road at Garrard County, losing 83 to 59. The Lakers trailed by as many as 20 in the first half, but cut the lead to 5 points midway thru the third quarter, before Garrard County pulled away early in the fourth quarter for the victory. Garrard County hit 15 three pointers in the game. Senior Scott Hamm had 19 points, while Jay Milburn added 12 and Trace Stringer put in 10. The Lakers will be on the road at Somerset Christian on Thursday and at McCreary Central on Friday, before returning home Saturday night against Cumberland County.
