Nearly 62 percent of registered voters in Russell County casted a ballot in the November general election.
That number is considered unofficial as of right now. However, in examining the total number of votes cast, totals show that 8,950 votes were cast in the presidential race (not including any write-in votes). The presidential race saw the most votes cast of any race on this year’s election ballot.
That number, coupled with the 14,469 registered voters in Russell County, lands voter turnout at approximately 61.85 percent.
That voter turnout would be the highest in Russell County in a presidential election year since 1992, when nearly 68 percent of registered voters casted a ballot. That was the year that Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Ross Perot ran for president.
