***The Russell County girls soccer team competed Wednesday night for the district championship in it’s first ever soccer season. The Laker girls lost a close one to Monroe County 1 to 0. The girls will compete in the 4th Region tournament this Saturday in Bowling Green. The girls varsity soccer team record is 3-7-1. Good start to building a solid program under head coach Kirsty Chapman.
***The boy soccer team also played Monroe County last night for the boys championship. No score has yet been reported but WJRS Sports will update with that result as soon as we receive it.
***The undefeated Russell County Lakers are scheduled to be at home tomorrow night for a game with Butler County. Due to the significant increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases, it is unsure if that game will be played. Keep it tuned to Laker Country 1049 WJRS for the latest information.
